By any chance, has a friend or relative tried to find your house recently? Did they find it successfully on the first try? At the City Building, we are responding to comments made by visitors to the City, Police Officers, Firemen, the Kenton County Dog Warden, and Emergency Medical Personnel about the alarming number of people who do not have their house number either on their mailbox or on the front of their house. Emergency personnel trying to locate an address have been trained to look either on the mailbox or on the front of the house for the house number. When they cannot find the location, precious time can be wasted in critical situations. Please consider either stenciling your mailbox or buying the large numbers to put on the front of your house. Numbers should be approximately 4.5 inches in hieghth to be seen clearly from the roadway, if the front of your house sits within 60 feet of the curb. If it is farther, a step up to six inches might be in order. If you decide to put the numbers on your mailbox, make sure they are on both sides and easily visible at night. Also, remember if putting the numbers on your house, to make sure they too, are easily visible at night. This could be critical if an emergency arises.
