Holiday Activities

he Recreation Committee along with other members of City Council attended two holiday events.  The first being the dedication of the Beverly Draud sidewalk on the south side of Dixie Hwy. from Winding Way to Lookout Farm Drive.  Although the weather was chilly and rainy, it did little to dampen the spirits of those in attendance.  Afterwards, everyone came to the City Building for the lighting of the holiday tree and to listen to choir singing after the tree lighting by the youth members from the Towne Street Church of God.  This choir has sang at Balloominaria and Krohn Conservatory holiday celebrations.  Those at the tree lighting ceremony had their picture taken with Mr. And Mrs. Claus, their handwriting analyzed and experienced palm reading.  Promotional safety items given to residents included a first-aid medical kit, a universal tool, and a LIFE hammer to use in the breakage of automobile glass or to cut a seat belt in an emergency.

DO NOT FORGET PROPERTY TAXES !
t is definite!
It's that time of year again when the leaves fall, it's supposed to turn colder,  and City property taxes are due.  If you would like to verify that your mortgage company has paid or asked for your tax bill, please call the City Building.  This is especially important for those residents who purchased their home after January 1, 2000 because the tax roll furnished to the City from the Kenton County Property Valuation office usually lists the home owner as of that date.  We make all efforts to make sure that sales reports are sent to us from PVA, however, please remember that it is ultimately the homeowner's responsibility to obtain and pay the tax bill.
If you are a homeowner, aged 65 or older, or on disability income, you may be
eligible to receive the Homestead Exemption on your property tax bill.  Contact the Kenton County PVA at 491-2728 to apply.  If approved by Kenton County, the exemption will automatically flow to the City.  If you have not received your City property tax bill  and you do not have your taxes paid through escrow, please contact the City Building to obtain a duplicate copy.
